Shields & End Covers Bearing Isolators
Closed bearing covers completely encase the bearing, while open covers have an exposed center to allow access to the bearing.
Closed and open bearing covers are typically made of plastic with metal fasteners.
Bearing isolator seals: Bearing isolators combine the characteristics of contact and non-
contact seals in a single unit (Fig.
3), but use the contact features to “drive” part of the seal at the shaft’s rotating speed.
Such seals afford more protection than individual contact or non-contact seals.
